Esafety
At Vane Road Primary School, we believe that staying safe online is just as important as staying safe in the real world. The internet is a fantastic place for learning, creativity, and staying connected, but it also comes with risks. That’s why we teach our pupils how to make smart choices online, protect their personal information, and recognise potential dangers such as cyberbullying, scams, and inappropriate content.

We encourage children to follow the SMART rules:
Stay safe by keeping personal details private,
Meet with caution and never arrange to meet someone from the internet,
Accept files only from trusted sources,
Reliable information - check facts with other, trusted sources
Tell an adult if something doesn’t feel right.

Parents and carers also play a vital role in eSafety, so we provide guidance to help families create a safe online environment at home. By working together, we can ensure our children develop the skills and awareness they need to navigate the digital world confidently and responsibly.
There are many sources online that can provide help with eSafety. Please find links to some of them below.

The National College has a library of very useful guides around eSafety issues. You will need to create a free account to access them.
